Dogs to host Steel

FAIRBANKS- The Springfield Jr. Blues swept the Chippewa Steel over the weekend, while the Ice Dogs sat idle. With the 4 points, the team from Illinois crept ahead of the Dogs in the NAHL Midwest Division standings with 16 points on the season, one ahead of Fairbanks. The Dogs come off their bye week with a 4-game home stand, beginning with a 2-game set against the Steel. Pucks drop at 7:30 both Friday and Saturday night at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.

The Ice Dogs are the top scoring team (teams with 10 games played) in the league, scoring an average of 4.1 goals per game. Billy Renfrew leads the Dogs, scoring 6 goals in the first 10 games of the season. Four of his tallies have come on the power play, ranking Renfrew second in the league in power play goals. The Ice Dogs’ 37.1 power play percentage ranks fourth in the NAHL. Alexander Malinowski leads the Dogs, and is tied for sixth in the league with 13 points off 5 goals and 8 assists.

Anchored by net minder Kayden Hargraves, the Ice Dogs have allowed 2.6 goals per game. Hargraves ranks second in the NAHL, with a 1.92 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.
