Training camp begins August 28

FAIRBANKS, ALASKA- The wait is almost over. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs are set to begin their 26th season with training camp set for Aug. 28 – Sept. 2 at the Big Dipper Ice Arena. The Dogs have three public scrimmages that take place 5:30-6:45 p.m. Aug. 28, 30 and Sept. 1. The annual Ice Dogs Golf Scramble takes place Aug. 27. The Dogs welcome back a handful of players from last season, including net minder Caden Hargraves who enters his third season in Fairbanks. Also back are veterans Jacob Conrad and Sam Berry on the blue line, with Tyler Herzberg, Cameron Ricotta, Brady Welsch and Marcus Lund up front.

The Dogs bid farewell to Assistant Coach Aaron McPheters, who accepted a position as Director of Hockey Operations for the UAA Seawolves over the summer. General Manager Rob Proffitt and Head Coach Dave Allison brought in Dakota Bell to join the Ice Dogs bench. The Ice Dogs open the season on the road with a 2-game series against the Minnesota Wilderness Sept. 9-10 in Cloquet. Next up, four games in the NAHL Showcase Tournament, where the Dogs will face Aberdeen, New Mexico, Bismarck and Odessa. They wrap up the season-opening road trip with 2-game sets against Wisconsin and Springfield.

The home opener comes Oct. 7, as the Dogs welcome the Anchorage Wolverines to the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
