Fairbanks goaltender Joe Phillippi backstopped the Ice Dogs to a three-game sweep over Alaska, turning aside 93 of 94 shots. On Thursday, the 19-year-old made all 32 saves in a 1-0 victory. The next night, the Shoreview, Minn., native picked up his second shutout in as many nights after stopping 21 shots in a 3-0 triumph. Phillippi steered aside 40 shots in the Ice Dogs’ 5-1 win over the Avalanche on Sunday.
