Ice Dogs rout Brown Bears to begin season

FAIRBANKS—The Fairbanks Ice Dogs picked up right where they left off last season against the Kenai River Brown Bears.

The Ice Dogs scored three shorthanded goals in the first period en route to a 6-2 win over the Brown Bears in the North American Hockey League season-opener on Friday in Soldotna.

The Ice Dogs scored 83 goals in the 16 games of the Ravn Alaska Cup against the Brown Bears last season. On Friday, the Ice Dogs got their first goal with 6:19 left in the first period.
