Ice Dogs losing steam

Mar 12, 2023

FAIRBANKS, ALASKA- With four league and Alaska Airlines Club 49 Cup points on the line, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs earned just one in each category from their 2-game home series against the Kenai River Brown Bears.  Kenai River skated to a 3-0 shutout and a 4-3 overtime victory over Ice Dogs Friday and Saturday night respectively.

The Anchorage Wolverines have a clear path to winning the Club 49 Cup with a 5-point lead over Fairbanks.  Both the Ice Dogs and Wolverines have 8 possible cup points available, as both teams face the Brown Bears four more times this regular season.

Wisconsin and Minnesota have separated themselves from the pack in the NAHL Midwest Division Standings.  The Ice Dogs hold third place by a single point over the fourth place Brown Bears. The Chippewa Steel, who have 3 games-in-hand over Fairbanks and Kenai River, are lurking in fifth place just three points out of playoff contention. Anchorage and Janesville each have 53 points entering the home stretch of the regular season.

The Dogs host the division cellar dwelling Springfield Jr. Blues this weekend at the dip. Tickets are available now at all local outlets and online.
