The Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Wyatt Carlson has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the WIAC.
The ‘04 forward from the State of Hockey, Carlson will hit the ice with the Blugolds in the fall. Carlson was one of the top offensive skaters for Fairbanks this past season. The 5’8 lefty laced up in 60 games and tallied 16 goals and 31 assists. He ranks third overall on his team with 47 total points on the year. This year, two of his goals were the decider in the contest and four of his goals were scored on the man advantage. This past season he was named as a Top Prospect on the Midwest Division team at the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament.
In his debut season with the Ice Dogs, the Hermantown, Minnesota native hit the ice for 52 contests for Fairbanks. He found the back of the net 14 times and produced 13 assists. Just like the 2024-2025 season, he notched two game-winning goals and scored five goals on the power play.
Carlson got a taste of the NAHL while he was still in high school with the Minnesota Wilderness. The 20-year-old hit the ice in three games in the 2022-2023 season.
Carlson will join fellow teammates, Cole Burke and Brent Gulenchyn, in the fall.
Head Coach of the Ice Dogs, Dakota Bell, shares his excitement for Carlson.
“Wyatt is one of three Ice Dogs who will be enrolling at Wisconsin-Eau Claire this fall. Wyatt showed up to the rink every day with a smile on his face and deserves this next opportunity. We’d like to thank Wyatt for his hard work and grit that he brought to the Ice Dogs as it will serve him well at his next stop in his hockey career!”
Carlson is one of twelve members of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs to make a college hockey commitment.
