Dogs host Magicians, honor military

Mar 6, 2019

FAIRBANKS- It’s a battle for division supremacy at the Big Dipper this weekend as the Fairbanks Ice Dogs enter a home series against the Minnesota Magicians trailing the visitors by two points for the top spot in the NAHL Midwest division. The Magicians have clinched a birth into post season play, but could find themselves looking up in the standings if the Dogs are able to take 3 of 4 points from the series.

“The Magicians have led the division all season,” said Ice Dogs head coach Trevor Stewart.  “We’ve put ourselves into a position to catch them in the month of March, and these two games are very important in achieving that goal.”

The series also marks the Ice Dogs annual military appreciation weekend.  Included in the festivities will be special intermission performances of tribute by Mike Finke.  Pregame salutes will include ceremonial puck drops, color guard presentations with service members singing our national anthem.   Military appreciation hoodies and tees will be on sale at the games.  This exclusive merchandise will only be available at this weekend’s games.

Tickets for the March 31 spaghetti feed are available now, and can be purchased at the Ice Dogs’ office through Friday.  They will also be available at this weekend’s series.  Tickets are $100 each, with only 300 sold.  Over 14k will be given away at the spaghetti feed, while auction items will be up for bid.

Tickets for this weekend’s games are available at Play it Again Sports, Gene’s Chrysler, Fairbanks Community Museum, Ft. Wainwright ASYMCA, Eielson Community Center, the Ice Dogs office, and as always online at fairbanksicedogs.com.
